Student Trainee (Administrative/Office Management)

This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program. The program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school. The Internship provides managers a ready source of student employees and potential permanent employees upon completion of the program requirements. It also provides the student with work experience directly related to the curriculum studies or career goals while offering eligibility for non-competitive conversion to permanent employment upon completion. Perform a variety of clerical and record keeping duties associated with administrative support work Candidate will use VA computer programs as assigned by the supervisor in the performance of their duties Provides general clerical/administrative support coordination for the office. Performs a variety of record keeping, scanning, mailing and miscellaneous duties in a general medical facility Answering telephones, referring calls to appropriate staff members, working with visitors, and organizes general clerical activities in the office Communicates in a tactful and courteous manner with a wide variety of individuals with varying levels of understanding Work Schedule:

Experience:
You must haveone year or 52 weeks of general experience that equipped me with particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of creditable general experience includes customer service, critical thinking, clerical or computer skills (This experience must be well documented in your resume or application package.) You must have completed two (2) full academic years of post-high school study (i.e., at least 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) or possess an associate's degree. NOTE:

Experience:
When combining education and experience to meet the minimum requirements, first we determine the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Next determine the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. To determine if the applicant has met the minimum requirement, add the education percentage and experience percentage. The total percentage must equal or exceed 100 percent. One full academic year of undergraduate; graduate; vocational; trades; technical or high school education is the number of credit hours determined by the college, university or school to represent 1 year of full-time study. Academic year-- An academic year is computed as follows:
At the undergraduate level, successfully completed education that has not led to possession of a degree is credited based on its relationship to 120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours. For example, 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours is comparable to 1 year of undergraduate education. Four years of progressive study or 120 semester hours meets the degree requirements. Additional credit cannot be given for duplicate course work. For study at a business or technical school, 36 weeks of study (20
classroom hours per week) is comparable to 1 academic year above high school. An academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 academic year of full-time study. This determination is made based on normal course loads for a full year of study in the graduate program. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. When academic credit is expressed in contract months, units, or other terms that differ from conventional semester or quarter hours, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide an interpretation of such credits from the appropriate institution in order to equate them to the semester or quarter hours specified in the standard. A minimum (2.0) cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) per semester/quarter, in good standing with the education institution, must be maintained for the education institution, must be maintained for the education institution, must be maintained for the duration of this PATHWAYS excepted service appointment. GPA must be provided in the transcripts. Must be able to complete 640 hours of work experience prior to completing degree course work requirements to be considered for conversion. Regular and recurring work is mostly sedentary involving sitting at a desk, although the position requires the ability to move from one geographic location of the facility to another. The incumbent works with a computer screen and keyboard. Some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending, occasional lifting, or prolonged sitting may be required.The incumbent may be exposed to walking to outlying areas. The work places no special physical demands on the employee.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
