Selective Placement Factors:

- Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates, OR by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. No assumptions will be made about your experience. Specialized experience requirement:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Secretary. Specialized experience is defined as performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties such as answering office calls and greeting visitors; applying office administrative practices and procedures for managing files and correspondence; proofreading and editing correspondence and documents for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format; responding to requests for information; preparing reports; coordinating travel arrangements; coordinating office schedules or appointments; and utilizing computer programs such as electronic calendars, word-processing documents, and shared electronic folder systems to complete daily tasks. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
