As a Biologist within the Western Ecological Research Center, some of your specific duties will include:
Prepare and publish scientific reports, manuscripts and literature regarding fields of wildlife biology and ecology, with an emphasis on sagebrush ecosystems. Analyze and summarize diverse datasets, including radio telemetry, animal occupancy and survey, and rangeland plant community composition and structure. Conduct statistical tests with biological data using advanced statistical programs and techniques, including multivariate statistics, time series analysis, AIC and Bayesian methods. Provide project management support for the principal investigator including presentations to clients and development of study proposals and design. Work in a team in the development of new ideas and approaches to problem solving. Work effectively under pressure with fluctuating deadlines, shifting flexibility from one activity or project to another while successfully managing time and resources to complete an assigned task or meet an objective. There is currently two vacancies to be filled; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available. Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Field work involves moderate or sometimes extreme exposure to rain, snow, cold/hot weather, rapidly running or icy streams and rivers, mosquitoes and working in bear country. Lifting and carrying of equipment up to 100 pounds when in the field. Basic Education Requirement:
Applicants must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Biologist, all grade levels. A. Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. B. Combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above (24 semester hours or the equivalent in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position), plus appropriate experience and/or additional education for a total of 4 years. The education or combined education and experience must be comparable in type, scope and thoroughness to that acquired through successful completion of a 4-year course of study as described in A above. In addition to the basic education requirements as stated above, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equal to the next lower grade level. Examples of experience at the GS-11 level may include:
1) independently planning and conducting comprehensive biological studies and investigations; 2) modifying and adapting standard biological techniques, processes, and procedures; 3) serving as a technical resource on biological issues. For examples 1-3, the assignments were planned and carried out independently, resolving most of the conflicts that arose, coordinating the work with others as necessary, relating new work situations to precedent ones, extending or modifying existing techniques, and interpreting and applying program policy in terms of established objectives.You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
