, seeks an energetic contributor to lead our strategic sourcing, supplier development, and capacity/demand planning. This new
position
is being created to facilitate efficient growth within core institutional channels and in pursuit of new frontiers. A closely held firm, Jenny Service Company is financially strong and is experiencing robust growth. Just last year we opened a new satellite distribution center to serve the eastern half of the country.
Working in tandem with the incumbent Purchasing
manager
, a subordinate, rich in institutional knowledge, our new Director will source new products per JSC requirements, re-source existing products to achieve improvements in quality/pricing/supply chain/shelf life, and seek out redundant sources for existing products to improve operational efficiency and to reduce costs throughout the supply chain.
Product categories include food, personal care, apparel,
electronics
, etc. Food industry experience is strongly preferred. This is a fast-paced role that requires juggling many responsibilities, with a high attention level to detail in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Developing new, and fostering existing, long-term supplier relationships
Effectively manage tension between cost, volume, and quality
Ensure long-term supply continuity
Developing, conducting, and managing RFP/RFI's and bids for key categories
Deliver to cost goals and budget targets for individual items and categories
International and domestic product procurement
Interface with, and support of, internal customers to achieve JSC goals
Developing others to become high functioning in all of the above (Mentoring)
Prerequisites
Minimum 5-7 years of sourcing experience with significant exposure to forecasting and capacity/demand planning
Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's Degree
Experience with co-packer relationships/sourcing
High proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and MS Office Suite (testing required)
ERP system experience preferred
Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
Highly articulate (verbal and written)
Excellent team and interpersonal skills
Experience managing direct reports
Purchasing and inventory management of shelf-life sensitive products
Familiarity with HAACP, QA and 3rd party audit procedures (preferred)
Experience conducting RFPs/RFIs (creating specs, sourcing vendors, executing negotiations, final selection) Contract experience required, including understanding of basic legal terms, contract language and related issues
International product purchasing and vendor management (preferred)
High ethical standards in personal and professional dealings
