What to expectGenerac Clean Energy Solutions is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to work on DFM of Cabinnet Enclosures and Castings for clean energy solutions.
You will be working cross functionally with product design engineering, supply chain, test engineering, product management , and contract manufacturers across North America.
You will use your background in design for manufacturing to focus on content reduction and assembly simplification.
The ideal candidate already has a background in DFM work in Enclosures or Automotive BIW.
You will create novel manufacturing processes for assembling the product, and then you will further design and build NPI tools, equipment, and assembly lines to test the manufacturing process created.
You will be based out of Reno, NV but you will need to travel to other engineering sites as needed:
Boston, Maine, and Vancouver.
What You'll Do Lead static and kinematic studies to simulate assembly and equipment interactions Drive content reduction, assembly simplification, and build-in-quality Lead PFMEA, build sequence, and process layout development; Lead product virtual builds with cross functional teams Support prototype and design validation builds:
design and deliver proto manufacturing tooling, prepare bill of process, lead manufacturing trials, etc.
Support manufacturing validations builds at NPI facility and also at manufacturing plants Design and implement enclosure manufacturing processes & equipment Partner with contract manufacturers to ensure a successful ramp of new product launch in enclosures, castings, and cabinet assembly Provide product feedback to design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability without compromising product function or performance.
Serve as the voice of the supplier to internal engineering teams for EVT, DVT, and PVT build phases Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures on pilot lines Lead development of new manufacturing processes What You'll Bring BS Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering or evidence of experience and exceptional ability, MSc.
Mechanical/Electrical engineering is a plus.

years of experience as a Manufacturing/Mechanical/Automation Engineer Must possess dimensional engineering skills Understanding of Design for Manufacturability principles.
Experience in manufacturing electrical cabinnet enclosures or Automotive Body in White.
Experience fastening process and parameters, automated fastening preferred.
Experience in Closures manufacturing process:
welding (spot welding, MIG welding, Friction Stir Welding), Riveting, Clinching, Laser Cutting Experience in functional/aesthetic finishing processes:
Paint and Powder Coating, dip coating, thermal spray coating New product Introduction and Manufacturing Operations experience Proficient in the development and deployment of PFMEAs Experience performing DFM/DFA/DFT Experienced with SOLIDWORKS, and other similar software/tools Experience designing production line layouts in AutoCAD Good understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies Ability to travel internationally to engage with manufacturing partners.

Qualifications:

years experience performing DFM/DFA/DFT for Enclosures or BIW manufacturing 3
years of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspections, Expertise in tolerance/stack-up analysis.
2
years of Experience in Castings Deep knowledge of welding , Riveting, Clinching, Laser Cutting and manufacturing tolerance required for each process Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixturing and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred, Catia is a plus) Experience creating technical specifications for manufacturing equipment Recommended Skills Auto Cad Automotive Industry Cad Catia Design Engineering Electrical Engineering Apply to this job.
