Construction Project Accountant

Construction Project AccountantReporting to the Sr.
Vice President, the Project Accountant is a vital member of the Brycon Corporation project team, providing accounting and finance services for project management.
The Project Accountant will work collaboratively with the site and corporate finance teams as the lead for Brycon project accounting.
The Project Accountant will oversee day-to-day project accounting, administer project financial controls, produce cost reporting, and provide cost forecasts.
The Project Accountant will work closely with various Project Managers and the Estimators to ensure timely and accurate recording of project commitments and costs.
The Project Accountant will be a key team member working to achieve the project goals.
The incumbent accomplishes these goals by collecting, collating, and reporting timely and accurate project financial information.
The Project Accountant will work with the other project owner's team members, site management team, corporate finance and management personnel, and contractors to perform their duties.
Core
Responsibilities:
The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the construction accounting throughout the construction phase, which includes:
Accounts payable Billings Cost line itemization Budget Assist with project close-out Processing all invoices and payments Collect and verify all lien releases from subcontractors on projects.
Performing account and job reconciliations Identify and resolve billing issues on projects Help produce monthly financial reports Review the accounts receivable aging weekly report Notify customers of delinquent accounts and obtain payment status Support project managers and management as it relates to the analysis of tracking construction expenses Provide job cost analysis for construction projects Assist in developing project accounting processes and standards to ensure adequate controls are in place and working effectively and that project reporting is timely, accurate, and complete.
Coordinate with the Project Manager to maintain project setup to facilitate proper cost collection and project reporting.
Coordinate and reconcile reporting with Project Managers and Corporate accounting.
Coordinate with the project managers to manage project accounts payable, ensure process documentation and project controls requirements are met, and ensure suppliers and vendors are appropriately managed and paid on time.
Prepare and present month-end financial reports, schedules, and project forecasts.
Coordinate with the project managers to ensure complete and accurate documentation for quarter-end reviews and the year-end audit.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with corporate accounting.
Education and Work
Experience:
Associate degree in Finance or Accounting; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong computer skills Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
Practical oral and written communication skills.
Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.
