As a piping engineer, you are responsible for analyzing and designing piping systems and pipe supports as needed to support power plant operation, process modifications, and capital improvement projects as well as to provide technical support to the power plants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Design and analyze a variety of piping systems in support of power plant operation and process modifications.
Perform piping stress analyses and associated calculations as required.
Select materials of construction for piping components, valves, insulation, and related components.
Ensure all work is done in accordance with required codes, standards, and permits.
Ensure proper testing requirements are identified and met prior to project commissioning.
Participate in engineering and design reviews in development of new concepts for plant optimization.
Perform surveys and gap analysis of existing equipment for Fitness for Service, modifications, and future projects.
Strictly adhere to and enforce all safety procedures.
Must be able to quickly and physically access and travel to all areas of the power plants.
Must be able to travel extensively (approximately 25%) to other locations, including rural areas to work on projects.
Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous periods of time and read and understand maps.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering or related field from an accredited university.

years of engineering experience in power generation, utility, mining, or heavy industry.
Professional Engineering registration preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Must have a high degree of initiative, ability to work with minimal or no supervision and a high level of confidentiality.
Must have extensive knowledge and understanding of common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as ASME B31.
3 Process Piping Code and ASME B31.
1 Power Piping Code.
Experience with piping design and drawing software is required (AutoPIPE, CEASAR II, Compress, SolidWorks FEA, and AutoCAD preferred).
Must have knowledge of Process Engineering, piping systems, pumps, pumping systems, heat transfer equipment, and chemical treatment systems.
Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
Must possess at any time a valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT's auto insurance carrier.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work in plant operating areas including exposure to noise, vibrations, heat and cold.
Must be able to wear any required protective equipment, as required by safety procedures and regulations.
Must be able to climb ladders, work off of elevated platforms and walkways and work in confined spaces.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions.
Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor and use repetitive motion for long periods of time.
