This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a Mine Closure Technical Lead to join our US Mine Waste Group in our Lakewood, Colorado office.
The following locations will also be considered:
Reno, NV; Elko, NV; Albuquerque, NM; Denver, CO; Redmond, WA; Tucson, AZ; Phoenix, AZ.
This position will provide technical leadership and guidance for multidisciplinary and complex mine closure projects related to mine closure planning and design, including conceptual, PFS, FS, detailed design studies.
Design, plan, coordinate and oversee studies, field investigation programs and closure projects.
Provide review for technical deliverables including but not limited to closure design criteria documents, erosion studies, closure grading plans, closure cover design and evaluations, surface water management plans and others.
Substantiates reports and documentation in terms of technical aspects and ensure that all studies and designs are conducted using an integrated approach.
Ensures that work products adhere to a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.
#GlobalMiningYour Impact Apply knowledge and experience in mine closure planning to design, plan, and oversee multidisciplinary closure plans, studies and field investigation programs and construction projects with the support of other technical leads and subject matter experts.
Lead multidisciplinary project teams and guide junior engineers and scientists on the successful execution of mine closure projects.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to present studies results, findings, and recommendations.
Support the development of scope and cost estimates for mine closure project proposals.
Understand construction methods and challenges.
Be able to support quality assurance and problem-solving during implementation of closure solutions to help clients meet design objectives.
Support client decision making through trade-off studies and alternative evaluations.
Build mine closure planning capacity within WSP through mentoring and supporting team members.
Apply and contribute to leading research and emerging technology within the practice of mine closure planning.
Provide leadership in workplace safety and prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You AreRequired Qualifications Bachelor's in in Mining, Geological, Civil, Geotechnical, or other earth science or engineering technical related disciplines.
7 to 10 years of relevant post-education professional experience in engineering or earth science with a minimum of 5
years of relevant mine closure planning and engineering design (design criteria, success criteria, grading plans), surface water and cover erosion assessments, soil cover design and evaluation, or other mine closure aspects.
Ideally over 5 years of consulting experience.
Significant experience in the delivery of mine closure planning and implementation scopes.
Demonstrated experience in leading large and multidisciplinary mine closure studies or tasks.
Demonstrated experience in presenting information and recommendations to client's teams and regulators.
Knowledge of mining phase project definitions and scopes from planning and design, construction, operations, closure, and post-closure.
Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid-level team or project members.
Independent thinker able to develop new ideas and promote environmentally sustainable engineering solutions.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by our clients' and WSP's health, safety environmental, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in any engineering or environmental science discipline.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations):
$76,400 - $155,900WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
Expected Salary (Colorado only):
$79,100-$151,500WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
