63 Position Information:
Under supervision, performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled maintenance in County parks, including landscaped areas, sports facilities and open space; and performs related work as required.
This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current vacancy in the Community Services Department.
The Community Services Department is currently hiring one.
75 full time position.
The.
75 full time position consists of a schedule working 40 hours per week, 9 months out of the year.
The incumbent will NOT work during the months of July, August, and September.
This position is partially benefited, and incumbents receive vacation, sick leave and holiday pay at a prorated rate.
The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future part time and full-time vacancies as they occur.
Current position information:
This position will focus on the duties and responsibilities of greenhouse operations in the Washoe County Greenhouse facility.
The position duties include the production and care for plants grown in the greenhouse, as well as running the Link4 system that manages the various functions of the controlled environment.

Minimum
Qualifications:
One year of previous full-time experience in performing basic maintenance work in a park, landscaping or related environment including irrigation, plant care, chemical application and/or grounds maintenance equipment use; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
License Or Certificate Possession of a valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
Certification as a pesticide applicator must be obtained from the Department of Agriculture within six months of date of appointment.
Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining valid certification.
Ideal Candidate Will have previous full-time experience in performing basic maintenance work in a nursery, greenhouse, or related environment.
Will demonstrate skills and ability to maintain and operate a Greenhouse system.
Will have knowledge of plant production work including propagation, germination, scheduling, fertilizer/chemical application, irrigation and plant care.
Will demonstrate the skills and abilities to maintain turf, trees, and landscaped areas throughout Washoe County's Regional Parks and Open Spaces.
Will demonstrate interest in having up to date knowledge and experience with current park or landscaping maintenance processes and procedures.
Will have strong experience in the safe operation of grounds maintenance equipment, such as string trimmers, edgers, tractors, and riding mowers.
Will have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently.
Will be self-motivated, responsive, and have effective communication skills.
